  • Special Status Students

Special status students are students who demonstrate important sports, arts and cultural achievements, student parents and students with special needs, which also includes students in an emergency social situation.
! By clicking on the link you will find useful information on the acquisition and types of statuses, support persons, trainings, etc.

Purpose:

The main purpose of the field is to ensure help for students, which ranges from providing special statuses to coordinating tasks and activities related to solving their problems.

Objectives:

In the field of SSS, we carry out various activities aimed at:

  1. Monitoring and development of the field at the strategic level of the Faculty;
  2. Recording problems, especially when working with SSNs and finding optimal solutions;
  3. Improving study conditions for SSNs by implementing innovative approaches;
  4. Planning and implementation of projects that promote the inclusion of SSNs in the study process;
  5. Careful planning of operational policy in the field and development of guidelines, which are to ensure consistent consideration of changes and their transparency;
  6. Cooperating with the Faculty SSNs, various services / commissions of the University, other members of the UL, universities and external institutions (state institutions, institutes, associations, centres, organizations) and individual experts in the field of special needs in Slovenia and the international arena;
  7. Counselling and participation in training of coordinators, teacher tutors and student tutors to work with the Faculty SSNs;
  8. Raising awareness of higher education lecturers and associates and other employees at the Faculty and (interested) members of the University of Ljubljana about the work and cooperation with SSNs;
  9. Encouraging activities for the promotion of equal opportunities and inclusive education (round tables, consultations, trainings, days (week) of equal study opportunities, etc.).

Special status acquisition:

In ensuring the special status, the Faculty acts in line with the Rules on the SSN of the University of Ljubljana and our Rules on the rights and responsibilities of students.
Upon enrolment, each student can apply for a special status by submitting an individual application, which includes an explanation of special needs and the interest in the selected study programme. The application for special status acquisition can be submitted on the prescribed form that is part of the annex to the Rules on the rights and responsibilities of students or on the faculty website (link to the Rules and forms >>).

In the application, the student is to define his/her disability and reasonable adjustments in the study programme implementation. The student is to enclose proof of disability or obstacles, in particular medical reports (issued by health care institution or hospital) on chronic or long-term illness or injury, the decision on the status of disabled person, the opinion of disability commission or commission for guidance of children, adolescents and young adults with physical and mental disabilities or the decision on child with special needs status (statement on guidance or classification). At the first-cycle studies, the granting of the status is subject to a decision by the FA Commission for Undergraduate Studies and at the second or third cycle studies, by the Commission for Master’s Studies. The student is to claim adjustments in line with the decision of the Commission.

The student with special status is to inform (immediately after receiving the decision on special status granting) the lecturer or the holder of course of the adjustments and agree on the manner of their implementation in due course.
