What is Erasmus+
Erasmus+ is a programme that supports activities in the fields of education, training, youth and sport in all sectors of lifelong learning (school education, higher education, further education, youth activities, etc.).
Erasmus+ enables students to:
- to complete part of their full-time study requirements at any level of their studies at a partner institution abroad instead of at the FEU
- to undertake a practical training placement in a company in one of the countries participating in Erasmus+, either during their studies or during the 12 months following graduation.
Mobility objectives
- To improve learning competences,
- increase employability and job prospects,
- increase self-initiative and entrepreneurship,
- increase self-confidence and self-esteem,
- improve foreign language skills,
- increase intercultural awareness,
- more active participation in society,
- better knowledge of EU projects and EU values,
- increased motivation for further education (formal and non-formal) and training after mobility.
The new Erasmus+ aims to enable as many individuals as possible to participate, especially those from less advantaged backgrounds, and highlights inclusion, environmental sustainability, green Erasmus+ and the transition to a digital society as key themes and activities.

Who can apply?
An Erasmus+ call for applications is open to FU students under the following conditions:
- to have the status of a student at the Faculty of Arts for the entire duration of the exchange abroad,
- be enrolled in at least the first year of a Bachelor’s degree programme during the exchange,
- have no outstanding financial obligations under ERASMUS or ERASMUS+,
- not have been the subject of a disciplinary sanction during their studies at the level for which they are applying for this call for applications.
Duration of the exchange
The period of physical mobility abroad is limited to a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months at each level of study. The period of physical mobility abroad may be combined by the student with a period of virtual mobility, up to a maximum total duration of 12 months, whereby the virtual part of the mobility is not funded by Erasmus+ and does not count towards the Erasmus+ status quota.
Students are not allowed to do mobility:
- in Slovenia,
- in the country in which they reside during their studies,
- in the country of their permanent residence; and
- in the country of which they are nationals.
Carrying out obligations
The minimum number of credits that an FU student must obtain during an exchange abroad and that will be recognised at the FU is 20 ECTS for one semester and 40 ECTS for two semesters.
Students who will be preparing their final thesis abroad or who will be gaining less than 20 ECTS per semester during the exchange can apply for Erasmus+ financial support for a maximum of 3 months.
OLS online language exchange check
All selected Erasmus+ students are encouraged to complete the Online Language Screening (OLS) of the main language of the exchange via the EU Academy platform before the start of the mobility.
Application evaluation criteria
- previous academic performance,
- motivation letter,
- Interview.
Country-specific scholarships
The selected Erasmus+ student is not automatically eligible for Erasmus+ financial support. The student must apply for Erasmus+ financial aid and any supplements via the online application form on the UL VIS. The Erasmus+ financial aid must be paid to the student before the start of the mobility.
The first day of the mobility is still the day on which the student has to be present at the foreign institution, which can be the first day of lectures, welcome events or the first day of language and cultural preparation that is part of the mobility, and not the day of arrival abroad.
The Erasmus+ grant co-finances the costs of studying abroad and does not cover the full costs. The amount will be specified in the Erasmus+ Financial Assistance Grant Agreement, which will be signed by the student after the submission of the application dossier.
The amount of the monthly financial assistance and the number of months granted per student will depend on the amount of funds available to the UL. If the funds are not sufficient to finance all the activities requested, the UL will limit the number of mobilities per person and the number of months funded.

The eligibility conditions for the Inclusion Allowance are that the student fulfils the following conditions at the time of applying for the call (or at the latest by the start of the mobility):
– has the status of a student with special needs, or
– the student has the status of a student with a special status (status of a categorised sportsperson, recognised artist/culturalist, participant in international competitions or status of a parent); or

Students with special needs who are approved for an Erasmus+ exchange will be able to apply for additional funding through a call for proposals, which will be sent to them by email in the summer of 2024. They will be eligible for the special needs allowance if their special needs allowance is already insufficient to cover the additional costs they will incur due to the nature of their special needs. Examples of additional costs for students with special needs are: additional travel costs, adapted local transport, additional costs due to adapted accommodation, additional costs due to an assistant, costs of medical services, costs of special didactic aids, etc.
Students going abroad may continue to receive the full amount of the national grant.
