Course student tutorship is intended for students as additional help in the understanding and mastering of the study contents of individual courses of a study programme. Usually, the course tutorship is provided for individual courses with demanding or extensive study content. At a course tutorship lesson, students can obtain additional explanations of content they did not understand at the lectures. Often, the course tutors advise them on the most suitable study methods and learning strategies for individual courses.
- Who can be a course student tutor?
A course student tutor can be a student who is enrolled in the highest year of the programme in which he or she is tutoring, in the current academic year, and has an average grade of at least 8 in this programme. Usually, it is a professor of an individual course or a student who expresses the need for course student tutorship. The selected student must attend training for student tutors, organised by the Faculty, prior to the start of the work or the academic year.
- Character traits and other knowledge of a course student tutor
In addition to a positive attitude towards work, a course student tutor must have appropriate knowledge of the study course in which he or she is helping students. It is very important that a course student tutor knows how to apply suitable pedagogical approaches and that he or she is familiar with different learning strategies, as individuals use very different learning methods for assimilating knowledge.
