Admission requirements:
Enrolment in the joint third-cycle doctoral study programme Governance and Economics in the Public Sector is open to graduates of:
- second-cycle study programmes;
- former study programmes leading to a master of science degree or specialisation following completion of a study programme leading to an academic higher education qualification (for enrolment in a third-cycle doctoral study programme, the academic programme council recognises course units totalling at least 60 credits);
- former study programmes leading to a specialisation, if candidates have previously completed a professional higher education programme (for enrolment in a third-cycle doctoral study programme, the academic programme council sets a requirement of course units of 30 to 60 ECTS credits);
- study programmes leading to professions regulated by EU directives, if they are evaluated at 300 credits, or other integrated master’s degree programmes evaluated at 300 credits;
- former study programmes leading to an academic higher education qualification, adopted before 11 June 2004.
Enrolment in the third-cycle doctoral study programme Governance and Economics in the Public Sector is also open to graduates of foreign universities, whereby the equivalence of previously acquired education will be established by means of the procedure for the recognition and evaluation of qualifications in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana.
Selection criteria in the event of restricted enrolment:
In the event of restricted enrolment, candidates will be selected based on:
- academic success (grade point average and final thesis grade) – 50%
- results of the selection exam (selection interview) – 50%.

Procedures and deadlines for application to the Call and enrolment:
The application is open from 1 April 2022 to 9 September 2022, 23:59 CEST.
Candidates are required to submit their applications via the eVŠ web portal by 9 September 2022, 23:59 CEST. Candidates should also submit electronically via the eVŠ information system all required evidence by the end of the application deadline.
Enrolment will take place at the Faculty of Public Administration and will be completed by 30 September 2022 at the latest.

Accepted candidates will be notified of further procedures and the enrolment dates on 15 September 2022 via the e-mail they provided in their application or via the eVŠ web portal.

HOW TO APPLY
Step 1: Find a doctoral degree programmes

Step 3: Check requirements for enrolment.
See the course details for the entry requirements of your course. Your previous study will be assed in the procedure for recognition of foreign higher education credentials or diplomas.
Step 4: Check tuition costs and scholarships
Tuition fee*: 11.000 €: 1st and 2nd year: 3670 €, 3rd year: 3660 €.
It is paid by:
- students of non-EU countries, excluding persons granted international protection, applicants for international protection and persons from countries with which the Republic of Slovenia has concluded a bilateral agreement (Slovenia has concluded bilateral agreements with Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia);
- all students that have already acquired an equivalent degree of education;
- all doctoral students;
- all part-time students.

Step 5: Submit your application for recognition of foreign education with your study enrolment application on the eVŠ portal. A candidate who has finished his or her studies in a foreign country (not Slovenia) and would like to continue education in the Slovenian higher education institution is obliged to acquire a decision on the recognition of the foreign education. The recognition procedure is a part of the enrolment procedure.
The required documents in the process of recognition of foreign education:
- Scan/photo of the diploma (scan all the pages of the original document). We will ask for authentication of the enclosed document at your faculty directly.
- Certified Slovene or English translation of the certificate or diploma.
- Scan/photo of the diploma supplement, transcript of records or other relevant document in English in evidence of content and duration of education.
- Scan/photo of chronological description of the completed education stating prior education including the schools attended, dates of attendance, possible transfers, accelerated progress, extended student status and similar (signed by the candidate).
- Scan/photo of ID card for EU citizens or passport for non-EU citizens.
- CV.
- Mentor’s statement (signed): on the required form.
- Information on the choice of the methodology course: you choose between Social science statistics and Optimisation models in the public sector: on the required form.
- Motivational letter.
- Conceptual draft of doctoral dissertation: on the required form.
