Individual Research Work (IRW)
1st year
- IRW 1 (10 ECTS): preparation of dissertation proposal.
- IRW 2 (20 ECTS): public presentation of the dissertation proposal at the Research forum and submitted to the CMDS for evaluation.
The achieved ECTS is registered in Studis at the end of the academic year. The basis for the entry of ECTS is the submitted student report and mentor report on the work on the dissertation.
2nd year
- IRW 3 (10 ECTS): work on the dissertation; IRW at the partner institution EF Rijeka* (any ECTS completed at the partner institution EF Rijeka can be included in the IRW).
- IRW 4 (25 ECTS): work on the dissertation; IRW at the partner institution EF Rijeka* (any ECTS completed at the partner institution EF Rijeka can be included in the IRW).
At the end of the second year, the mentor and student submit a research progress report, which is required for enrollment in IRW 3 and IRW 4.
3rd year
- IRW 5 (30 ECTS): preparation of the dissertation; IRW at the partner institution EF Rijeka* (any ECTS completed at the partner institution EF Rijeka can be included in the IRW).
- IRW 6 (25 ECTS): preparation of the dissertation; IRW at the partner institution EF Rijeka* (any ECTS completed at the partner institution EF Rijeka can be included in the IRW).
Completed IRW 5 and IRW 6 are entered when the student has: a published (or accepted for publication) article, in accordance with Article 8 of the Regulations on Doctoral Studies, and a positive report on the candidate’s work on the dissertation, submitted by the mentor.

You can also complete the IRW at EF Rijeka as part of the following activities:
- active participation in the scientific colloquia,
- active participation in methodological and econometric seminars and workshops for PhD students,
- active participation in a scientific conference for PhD students (according to the evaluation at the partner institution in ECTS or 2 ECTS for the FPA Research forum).
