About Student Placement
Student placement presents an important part of the study and one of the key steps on the road to employment. In numerous cases, placement presents the basis for an agreement with an employer for future employment. It may provide a unique practical experience that will be of great help in one’s subsequent career.
Student placement is becoming an increasingly important stepping stone on the labour market. At placement, students have the opportunity to gain other skills besides knowledge, which are often decisive in their future professional work. At placement, students can learn how to use theoretical knowledge in practical situations. They acquire working habits, learn to work in groups, to communicate with co-workers, group leaders and management staff. The placement is useful also for the development of a student’s personal qualities and skills.
Objectives of student placement:
- the student’s work in a working environment of an organisation and the development of competencies,
- the practical solving of a specific problem from a pre-selected field to be solved with the support of a mentor from the organisation and a mentor at the Faculty.
In order for the student to successfully perform the placement, the Faculty arranges a seminar, where the student is acquainted with the basics of the placement that will be performed at an organisation. The student, when attending student placement, must follow the Rules on the Rights and Obligations of Students, the Instructions for Preparing a Placement Report, and the organisation of work in the organisation and the regulations on safety at work.
