1. Objectives and competences


  • defines problem, asks survey research questions, prepares, and processes survey research,
  • uses computational technology and statistical tools for gathering, analysing and presenting results of survey research
  • studies literature and builds research construct and questionnaire,
  • forms a hypothesis, chooses and uses suitable hypothesis testing technique,
  • distinguishes information that is not pertinent to a decision or solution;
  • compares observations or finished work to what is expected to find inconsistencies
  • makes critical reflexion to survey results and relates them to the practical situation in public sector.


  • to examine numerical data to grasp issues, draw conclusions, and solve problems;
  • to use IT equipment and statistical tools to proceed statistical research and create reports and presentation;
  • to identify key facts in a range of data;
  • to notice when data appear wrong or incomplete, or need verification;
  • to evaluate critically the meaning of statistical information, and to apply it to situations at hand
  • to research and to transfer the knowledge into practice.
