3. Objectives and competences

  • Course offers the knowledge of  implementing management into local self-government in Slovenia (and Serbia).
  • The students will gain specific knowledge of organizational and functional concepts of local government. 
  • Students will gain the knowledge of local government functioning and financing, power sharing and relations between local self-government and central government.
  • Students will aquire the knowledge and skills needed for good local management by using models and approaches of modern management theory.
  • Students will be able to better understand problems related to local self-government functioning, and they will be able to solve those problems and apply efficient decision-making.
  • Students will also develop organizational and leadership competencies to work in local administration.

 

4. Intended learning outcomes:

Knowledge and understanding:   Students are able for independent and complex research and involvement in managerial functions of local selfgovernment in conections with existing knowledge in the field of public sector.

 

5. Learning and teaching methods:

The course is combined by  lectures and seminar work, aimed toward solving issues and practical problems from localities in two countries.
Seminar work is conducted in groups (from two to five students) or individual work. Seminar work is presented to class, folowed by discussion on results and research methods.

 

6. Assessment

Written and/or verbal exam. 50%
Seminar  project preparation is required before taking the exam. 50%
