3. Objectives and competences

The aims:

  • students learns about Europe's regional/Cohesion policy and regional issues in Slovenia
  • student analyzes the relationship of national regional policy to the EU Structural and Cohesion Fund(s)
  • student distinguishes between Regional, Cohesion and Structural policy
  • student identifies regional problems in the EU and Slovenia
  • student understands the role of EU regional policy and national regional policy

Competences:

  • student will be able to identify reasons for the implementation of regional/cohesion policy at EU and national level
  • student understands the forces that affect the economic performance of regions and different regions at national and European market levels with the possibilities of economic policy for areas with common currency and common customs borders
  • student will be able to participate in the preparation of regional development programs
  • student understands the organization and functioning of various EU funds and related financial sources and programs of the EU Member States
  • student understands the situations in the field of drawing EU funds

 

4. Intended learning outcomes:

Student acquires an advanced knowledge about the role and the situation of the regional levels in European integration process, European institutions, with emphasis on the EU institutions, changes in the functioning of the enlarged EU, regional policy, EU structural funds and Cohesion Fund, current issues of the Slovenian regionalization, political and fiscal decentralization, cross-border integration and participation of local communities etc. The student is capable of complex study, linking his/her knowledge and understanding, and is also able to transfer knowledge to others. He/she is able to scientifically handle of particular scientific issue/problem and is qualified to continue further independent study and professional development.
