- Constitutional regulation of human rights and basic freedoms:
- Organisation of the state: the composition, elections and functions of the National Assembly;
- the composition, elections and jurisdiction of the National Council;
- President of the republic;
- formation, operation and functions of the government.
- Constitutional foundations of local self-government;
- Judiciary system and state prosecutors;
- Constitutional Court;
- The Republic of Slovenia as a member of the European Union.
Objectives and competences
Objectives:
Student:
- understands the origins and development as well as the subject matter of constitutional law;
- identifies the most important and the most characteristic constitutional orders around the world;
- recognizes the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia and other sources of constitutional law;
- gain fundamental knowledge of the EU legal order;
- can identify fundamental topical dilemmas pertaining to the amendments and supplements to the constitution.
Competences:
- understanding of the origin and development of constitutional law;
- describing the basic concepts of constitutional law
- summarizing the basic concepts of the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia;
- identifying the prevailing directions in the development of modern constitutions;
- understanding the process of constitutionalisation of the European Union;
- ability to use the acquired knowledge in practice and in further studies.
