Objectives and competences
The aims:
- the study is planned to provide the student necessary knowledge and skills for the profound critical analysis, assessment and synthesis of the legal and economic characteristics of the modern social security systems,
- student is guided to critical analyse of basic values in the field by exploring the main international legal acts regulating this field and the fundamental constitutional norms that are the foundation of building a modern social security systems,
- student identifies the role of national governments (and international institutions) studying issues of social protection (health, education, poverty, employment, etc.) and highlights the comparative approach to solve social issues,
- student understands similarities and differences in the face of countries (developed and emerging market economies) on social challenges that are created by internal and external economic, political, demographic and cultural determinant,
- student will be encouraged to create complex ideas and critical/creative thinking in designing and implementing social policies of different countries, with an emphasis on European countries.
Competences:
- student understands in-depth theoretical and methodological concepts of social policy,
- student acquires the ability to be actively involved in strategic decision-making processes in the society,
- student is trained to analyze selected issues on the regulation of social rights in other countries which allows them to compare and create modern solutions for the national system,
- student acquires the ability to research case studies in selected areas of social policy and to present them,
- student is able to apply and transfer knowledge to the co-workers and to plan and implement their own in-depth research and critical reflection.
